April to June and September to October sit between the wet season and the July-August crowd peak: drier, less humid, still green. July-August is driest and busiest, with the highest prices in Seminyak and Uluwatu. December-March is wet season, heavy afternoon downpours most days but still workable, and much quieter outside Christmas and New Year's.

May through September is the dry season across most of the archipelago and the easiest window to visit Bali, Jakarta, Yogyakarta, and Bandung together. June and September avoid the July-August peak crowds and prices while keeping the same weather.

Oct-NovWet season returns gradually. Jakarta's air quality is often worse in the dry months that precede this, so October can actually clear up.
