How to spend less

  • Connemara National Park is free including parking, and Diamond Hill alone justifies the drive
  • Galway City Museum is free with only a suggested donation and fills an hour well
  • Book Cliffs of Moher tickets online rather than at the gate, where you pay the full walk-up rate
  • A coach day tour to the Cliffs from Galway city, run by one of several local operators, is often cheaper than self-driving once fuel, parking and rental excess cover are added up
  • Walk the Salthill Promenade and the Spanish Arch instead of paying for a harbour cruise for a similar sea view
