What I actually paid
- The peninsula towns are more different from each other than the map suggests. Gümüşlük and Türkbükü are a 30-minute drive apart and feel like they belong to two different budgets and two different countries.
How to spend less
- Dolmuş minibuses to every peninsula town cost a fraction of a taxi and run constantly in season
- Bodrum's produce and fish market days are cheaper than any waterfront restaurant for the same ingredients
- Beach access itself is largely free; it's the club loungers and minimum spend in Türkbükü specifically that inflate a day
- Shoulder season (late May-June, September) drops accommodation noticeably from July-August peak without losing much beach weather
