How to spend less
- Bus route 4 runs past Po Nagar and the cathedral for about 10,000 VND, which is the whole northern sightseeing loop for less than a coffee
- Route 3 gets you to Doc Let beach for bus fare instead of a 600,000 VND taxi, if you can spare 90 minutes each way
- Eat at Dam Market rather than the night market: same food, local prices, and it is open at breakfast when the night market is shut
- Book dive trips and small-group boats directly at the shop in the Nguyen Thien Thuat backstreets, not through the hotel desk, which adds a cut
- The public stretch of Tran Phu beach has free showers and shade, so there is no reason to pay a resort day-pass just for beach access
- Rent a bicycle for 30,000-50,000 VND a day; the beach road is flat and the city is small enough that you barely need Grab
