June-September for festival season and patio weather, warm and sometimes humid. Fall (late Sept-Oct) brings foliage on Mount Royal and fewer crowds. Winter (Dec-Mar) is genuinely cold, -10C to -20C with wind chill and real snow, but it has its own events like Igloofest and Montreal en Lumière, and the underground city keeps downtown workable.
