April to June and September to October are the sweet spots: mild days, the baths without the peak crowd, and outdoor seating at ruin bars without summer's heat. July and August hit 30C plus and pack the baths and river cruises. Winter is cold and grey, but the Christmas markets and near-empty museums are their own reward.
