Best Time to Visit Kyoto

When to go

Late March to early April (cherry blossoms, peaking around April 1-2, 2026) and mid-November to early December (autumn foliage, peaking late November into early December 2026) are the best-looking and most crowded windows. May and October offer good weather with fewer people. July-August is hot and humid (30C+, high humidity) with fewer crowds at temples but rough walking conditions.

Month by month in Japan

Kyoto sits in Japan, so the country's broader seasonal pattern applies. Late March to early April for cherry blossoms and late October to November for autumn colour are the two peak windows, with the best weather and the biggest crowds and prices. June to mid-July is rainy season; August is hot, humid, and typhoon-prone.
