Best Time to Visit Izmir
Recommended: Apr to May
When to go
April-May and September-October have warm days, cool evenings and the lightest crowds at Ephesus and on the coast. June-August is hot (regularly mid-30s C) and busy on the Çeşme peninsula and at Pamukkale; go early morning if traveling then. Winter (Dec-Feb) is mild and wet by Turkish standards, workable for the city itself but a poor season for beach towns and some rural sites cut hours.
Month by month in Turkey
Izmir sits in Turkey, so the country's broader seasonal pattern applies. April-May and September-October give the best balance of weather and crowds nationwide. Summer (June-August) is peak season and the only reliable window for the coastal resort towns, while winter is genuinely quiet, and partly closed, outside Istanbul and Cappadocia.
