How to spend less

  • Use the MRT and TransJakarta over Gojek/Grab for any trip along their corridors; a single TransJakarta ride is 3,500 IDR flat regardless of distance
  • Eat at Glodok or Blok M's Melawai food stalls rather than mall food courts; the same dishes run half the price
  • Book the Railink train instead of a car from the airport if you're arriving during rush hour; the fare difference is small compared to the time saved
  • Skip individual attraction tickets at TMII and just walk the park; most of the value is in the pavilions from outside, not the paid museums inside them
