Best Time to Visit Venice
Recommended: Late Apr to early Jun
When to go
Late April to early June and late September through October give mild weather and thinner crowds than summer. July and August bring 30C+ heat, humidity, and the worst crowding of the year. November through February is quiet and atmospheric but carries acqua alta (flooding) risk and shorter museum hours. Avoid the two weeks around Carnival unless that's the point.
Month by month in Italy
Venice sits in Italy, so the country's broader seasonal pattern applies. April-June and September-October give warm weather without peak summer heat or crowds. July-August is hottest and busiest, especially on the coast and in Venice. Winter is cold, quiet, and cheap for museums.
Mar-MayMild, blooming, before the summer crowds and heat arrive. Best value shoulder season.
Jun-AugHot, humid, peak prices and crowds, especially Venice, Rome, and the Amalfi Coast.
Sep-OctWarm days, cooler nights, harvest season in Tuscany, fewer tourists than summer.
Nov-FebCold and wet, especially in the north, but cheap flights, hotels, and short museum lines.
